Let's say… a man is tried for a crime he commits in court. The judge, who is an old friend, tries him and finds him guilty. The fine is 100 000 pounds. The man cannot pay this as he has no money. The judge gives the sentence but then he removes his cloak and wig and comes down the stand. He writes out a cheque and gives it to the man, his old friend. He pays for the debt instead.
There are three possible responses to this.
1. The man will be overjoyed, thankful and will receive the cheque.
2. The man is afraid that no other opportunity to get out will come back, so he's not going to risk, he takes the cheque.
3. The man rejects the cheque, demands a retrial because he can't believe that he's guilty. Or his pride prevents him from accepting the cheque.
An extract from Zoe’s blog which summarises perfectly of how mankind reacts when a loving God writes off our debt and giveth free salvation. 3 types of reactions.. and you are in..,?
